Allison Matthews
Allison P. Matthews is news writer and editor at her alma mater, Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ. Her role is to manage news flow through the Office of Public Affairs to communicate stories that chronicle the institution's accomplishments in regards to teaching, research and service.
Matthews completed a bachelor's degree in communication from MSU, where she also served as editor of The Reflector and gained recognition from the Southeastern Journalism Conference as College Journalist of the Year. She went on to earn a master's degree in journalism from the University of Mississippi.
After graduate school, Allison spent five years working with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where she served as marketing and recruitment coordinator. There, she worked to develop print, broadcast and electronic media to communicate key messages to a variety of college constituencies.
Before returning to Mississippi State in 2011, Allison served her hometown of Starkville for two years in the role of vice president of membership and community development at the Greater Starkville Development Partnership. During her time with the Partnership, she hosted a weekly radio show that highlighted Starkville businesses. She also enjoyed working with entrepreneurs to foster a strong local business climate.
Allison is a member of the Public Relations Association of Mississippi and the Southern Public Relations Federation. She and her husband Todd, an Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵforestry alumnus, have two children. They are members of Pinelake Church in Starkville.
