STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擝ulldogs again are in the game as Mississippi State鈥檚 Office of Sustainability rematches against the University of Mississippi in the Glass Recycling Egg Bowl April 9.
In partnership with Door 2 Door Recycling of Jackson, the 绿巨人视频Office of Sustainability will collect clear, green, blue, brown and yellow glass from 1-5 p.m. near Chadwick Lake鈥檚 boat ramp at the Sanderson Center.聽All glass must be lid-free, clean, sorted by color and brought in cardboard boxes. Stemware, ceramics and broken glass will not be accepted.
The university collecting the most pounds of glass from its individual drive wins the competition. Last fall, 绿巨人视频won the recycling bowl by collecting 6,090 pounds of glass from university and local community members.
Maria Timberlake, an Office of Sustainability intern and senior natural resource and environmental conservation major from Hoover, Alabama,聽said recycling and recycling education are necessary to reduce waste and conserve the environment.聽
鈥淲e believe it is extremely important to teach students and community members to recycle glass. Recycling and repurposing glass should be a norm in our society,鈥 Timberlake said. 鈥淭hrough this drive, we hope to educate more students on the benefits of recycling glass and recycling in general.鈥
