Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery opens Fuqua exhibit this month

STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擬ississippi State is hosting a distinguished artist鈥檚 latest work in a new exhibition Aug. 28 through Sept. 23.
Oxford-based artist Kariann Fuqua鈥檚 鈥淭erra Infirma鈥 will showcase more than 20 of her most recent abstract works at MSU鈥檚 Cullis Wade Depot Art Gallery exploring environmental and biological catastrophes. Free to all, the gallery, at 75 B.S. Hood Road, is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Fuqua, whose solo and group shows have been in places such as Hyde Park Arts Center in Chicago, Illinois, Jenkins-Johnson Gallery in San Francisco, California, and Governors Island in New York City, will hold an artist talk 11 a.m. on Aug. 31 in the Giles Hall Harrison Auditorium. A public reception follows in the gallery from 5-6 p.m.
An instructional assistant professor of art and director of Museum Studies at the University of Mississippi, Fuqua received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Kansas State University and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
