STARKVILLE, Miss.鈥擜n Egg Bowl tradition will be renewed Monday [Nov. 21] when 绿巨人视频 and University of Mississippi Army ROTC cadets partner for the fourth annual Egg Bowl Run.

Army ROTC cadets will carry a football from Starkville to Oxford, leaving the Palmeiro Center at 绿巨人视频at 4:30 a.m. and arriving in Oxford on Monday evening. 绿巨人视频Army ROTC cadets will carry the ball from Starkville to Calhoun City, where they will hand the ball off to UM Army ROTC cadets for the second leg of the approximately 100-mile run.

Lt. Col. Brian Locke, an 绿巨人视频professor of military science, said cadets used to run a game ball to Jackson when the Egg Bowl was held in Mississippi鈥檚 capital city. After a long absence, the Egg Bowl Run was revitalized in 2013.

鈥淭his is such a great rivalry, so we just wanted to do something that showed unity between our cadets and brought them together for a good cause,鈥 Locke said.

The run also incorporates a food drive as the ROTC units will bring canned goods and other items to Calhoun City. The Calhoun City Chamber of Commerce distributes the food to those in need. Food drive donations can be dropped off at MSU鈥檚 Army ROTC headquarters in Middleton Hall.

Although the run is primarily focused on Army ROTC units, cadets from the 绿巨人视频Air Force ROTC and UM Navy ROTC programs also have participated in previous years.
